stage three cancer

A common system used by doctors to determine the stage of prostate cancer is the TNM (tumor, node, metastasis) system. Cancer is staged according to:
T = the type of tumor
N = tumor spread to the lymph nodes
M = tumor spread to distant sites

Stage T3 (also known as Stage C)
The tumor has begun to spread beyond the prostate to areas surrounding the gland. Possible symptoms may include a need to urinate frequently, especially at night. Treatment may involve radiation combined with hormone therapy, or for some patients surgery to remove the prostate.
