The PCPC is a clinic that provides clinical care and prostate
cancer prevention information to people who may be at risk
of developing prostate cancer. This clinic is located
and offered through the Prostate Centre on the 4th floor of
Princess Margaret Hospital.
The Clinic has two main goals. The first is to provide
individuals and families who may be at risk of developing
prostate cancer with comprehensive clinical care (prevention,
surveillance, and treatment) and up to date information
on prostate cancer prevention. The second goal of the
clinic is to perform research on prostate cancer so
we can better understand the causes of this cancer,
the factors that influence someone’s risk to
develop cancer, and the emotional impact of being involved
in a prevention clinic.

The PCPC is a clinic for men who may have an increased chance
to develop prostate cancer. Research studies of prostate cancer
have suggested that certain men may have an increased chance
to develop this condition. This includes:
Men with a close relative (e.g. father, brother, son)
or several family members with prostate cancer
Men of African ancestry
Men
with prostatic intra-epithelial neoplasia (PIN) diagnosed
on biopsy
Men with an elevated prostate specific
antigen (PSA) test
Please note: If you have been diagnosed with prostate
cancer you are not eligible for this clinic, however,
you may wish to share this information with close relatives
(e.g. brothers, sons, fathers) who may be eligible.
