MRI Targeted Focal Laser Thermal Therapy of Biopsy Confirmed Prostate Cancer

The objective of this study is to establish the safety of MRI targeted laser thermal treatment for men with biopsy confirmed early stage low grade single sector prostate cancer.  Participants will be asked to undergo MRI at 1 week, 3 months, and 6 months post surgery.  As well a biopsy will be performed at the 6 the month mark.  HRQOL Questionnaires will be collected at baseline, 1month, 3 month, and 6 month follow-up visits.

This study is suitable for men who have:

  1. Biopsy proven prostate cancer Gleason grade 6 or less
  2. No more than 40% of cores sampled positive
  3. Clinical stage T1c
  4. No prior prostate treatments (e.g. TURP, HIFU, Hormones)
  5. Subsequent MRI confirmation that tumor focus in same area as the biopsy
  6. PSA <10 ng/ml

WST11: Vascular-Targeted Photodynamic Therapy Using WST11 in Patients with Localized Prostate Cancer

This study uses Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) to treat men with untreated localized prostate cancer.

This study is suitable for men who:

  • Have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and are eligible for active surveillance
  • Have not had prior treatment for prostate cancer
  • Have a PSA < 10 ng/mL
  • Have a Gleason score less than or equal to 3 + 3
  • Have no significant cardiovascular history

Multicentre, double-blind study comparing 0.5mg dutasteride vs. placebo daily in men receiving intermittent androgen ablation therapy for prostate cancer

This study is for men who are candidates for intermittent androgen ablation hormone therapy.

The study is suitable for men who:

  • Are between the age 45 and 80 years
  • Have a rising PSA
  • Have received at least one of the following for treatment of localized prostate cancer: External beam radiation, Brachytherapy, Radical prostatectomy
  • Have not had previous treatment for prostate cancer with Chemotherapy or Hormone therapy
  • Do not have metastasis

A Pharmacodynamic Study of an Investigational Drug in Localized Prostate Carcinoma

This study is for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be undergoing a radical prostatectomy.

The study is suitable for men who:

  • Have a minimum of 2 positive core biopsies
  • Have not had prior chemotherapy or hormone therapy
