MRI Targeted Focal Laser Thermal Therapy of Prostate Cancer
The objective of this study is to establish the safety of MRI guided focal laser tumour ablation treatment for men with biopsy confirmed early stage low grade single sector prostate cancer. Participants will be asked to undergo a biopsy 4 months after treatment. Quality of Life questionnaires will be collected at baseline, 1 week, 1 month, and 4 month follow-up visits.
This study is suitable for men who have:
- Biopsy proven prostate cancer Gleason grade 7 (3+4) or less
- No more than 50% of cores sampled positive
- Clinical stage T1c or T2a
- No prior prostate treatments (e.g. TURP, HIFU, Hormones)
- PSA <10 ng/ml

Randomized Study of Combination Vitamin E, Selenium and Lycopene vs. Placebo in Men Undergoing Radical Prostatectomy
This study aims to determine the impact of combination Vitamin E, Selenium and Lycopene on prostate tumor size and to study certain markers in blood and prostate tissue which affect prostate tumor growth or shrinkage. Participants will be asked for blood samples prior to intervention and 6-8 weeks later, prior to surgery. Prostate tissue will be harvested at time of surgery, after the prostate has been removed.
This study is suitable for men who are/have:
- Scheduled for a radical prostatectomy for the treatment of prostate cancer
- 18 years of age or older
- A diagnosis of a Gleason score > or = 7 adenocarcinoma of the prostate
- At least 30% of one core involved
